Frequent Asked Questions: BOTOX

Q: What is "Botox" ?
A: "Botox", or as it is known scientifically, Botulinum Toxin, is a bacterial protein that is produced by bacteria. Doctors
use this product to treat wrinkles in the skin by relaxing the muscles underneath the skin. Botulinum Toxin can also be used
to treat migraines for patients that feel their migraines may be related to musculoskeletal "trigger points" in the head and neck areas.

Q: Is Botox dangerous because it comes from bacteria?
A: Absolutely not! Botulinum Toxin is a completely safe and effective product that can be injected with a high safety margin.

Q: Does Botox cause any permanent sagging or changes in my skin?
A: This is a complete myth. Botulinum Toxin cannot cause any permanent changes in a patient's skin. Your body easily slowly metabolizes Botulinum Toxin over a course of 4-8 months and the effects slowly wear off. Once the effects have worn off, your skin will be exactly as it was before you received Botulinum Toxin injections.

Q: Can I receive Botox while pregnant or breast feeding?
A: Unfortunately, no. Botulinum Toxin should be delayed until you have delivered your baby and are done breast feeding.

Q: Are there any medical conditions that would prevent me from receiving Botox injections?
Yes, there are certain neurological conditions as well as some other medical conditions where Botulinum Toxin injections should be avoided. The doctor will discuss these conditions with you during your consultation.

Q: How long will my Botox effects last?
A: Every patient is different, however, on average Botulinum Toxin effects can be expected to last approximately 3-4 months. In some instances, after several consecutive sessions, the effects can last for up to 1 year.

Q: Do the injections for Botox hurt?
A: For the most part, the answer is no, there is little or no pain at all during injections. Very sharp and thin syringe needles are used which helps eliminate any discomfort.

Frequent Asked Questions: FILLERS

Q: What are Dermal Fillers?
A: Dermal Fillers are a group of different synthetic materials used to add instant volume to the face and eliminate deep skin folds or wrinkles on the face and the neck.

Q: What can Dermal Fillers be used for?
A: Our line of Dermal Fillers such as Juvederm can be used to eliminate deep wrinkles or folds on the face or neck area. We also provide lip augmentation to increase lip volume and provide fuller overall lip contours. We also can provide augmentation of the cheek and chin area using Dermal Fillers.
If you have experienced loss of volume in your cheek bone area and have noticeable sagging of the cheeks, a cheek augmentation can help eliminate this effect and make you look much younger. Chin augmentation can be used to provide a more prominent chin and also reverse the effects of volume loss in the chin area. There are many other areas or deep folds which can also be treated with Dermal Fillers which you can ask about during your consultation appointment.

Q: Are all Dermal Fillers the same?
A: Absolutely not. There are different types of Dermal Fillers in use today including temporary Dermal Fillers such as Juvederm and permanent fillers that will stay in your skin forever. We only use reversible and temporary Dermal Fillers which your body can metabolize over time without the risk of any sort of permanent change or tissue damage.

Q: What are some examples of Dermal Filler brands?
A: Some examples of popular Dermal Fillers in use today are Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane, and Perlane.
